Create Your Own GRL

March 16th, 2008 . by admin

We want you to create your own local chapter of GRL.

We highly encourage you to read through the site, learn from our successes and mistakes, and create your own GRL events in your local area. We will be publishing guides and how-to’s on the site as both documentation of our efforts as well as inspiration and help to others wanting to join the cause.

Ideally we’d like the site to become a community space where people can get together, meet up and discuss ideas for projects. We can share our experiences, inspire one another and together help spread art not ads.

Leave comments here if you are wanting to do events in your area or to share ideas…

I have an interest in starting a chapter in Ottawa. I’m particularly interested in the neografik project. I’ve been planning to do a similar event in Ottawa. I’m looking for contact to further my technical knowledge of lasertaging. Let me know

Guys this is intense I don’t even know where to get started in my community, and pointers?

    hi pattycakes,

how to get started? first you need access to the equipment. you can start with a small projector (nothing fancy) as that’s usually the big impediment for people. people usually borrow one from works or know someone who has one or you could drop $600 at dell.ca if you are really into it. once you’ve got the system sorted out on a technical level it’s just a matter of finding people to do it with. i don’t know if you are a writer or not, but if you are then just get some of your buddies together and hit up small buildings or alleys. you’d be surprised how many people will see you even when you are in an alley somewhere. for one of my first sessions i just ran 100ft of extension cable out my window and into the back alley and just bombed the walls in the alley. tons of people walking by came to check it out.

if you don’t know any writers, then try tracking some down (either local graf shops or maybe you know someone who knows someone etc). put the word out and you’ll probably connect with someone. that’s all it really takes as once the ball starts rolling it really gains momentum fast.

hit me up by email if you want to discuss further…

I have some laser gear that I have taken out of the garbage of my wife work, She works for a company that sold laser equipment for hospitals, they throw away stuff that can be refurbished.
I am looking for a tec savy friend who knows a thing or two about lasers. I can take pictures of some of these things my wife calls blocks? she said they send some to cali USA for a guy to refurbish and they just throw out other ones, they may be no good but they may also be good for parts. I would like learn more about lasers and live in Cambridge Ontario.
Just throw’n it out there…………………………. and maybe on a wall someday to.

Hey, I saw this at Midforms last night and I had a blast drawing swirls and colours on this white canvas. There’s something liberating about drawing shapes in colours that I have in my minds eye…

That and I really like graffiti and the art and meanings that they bring! I’d love to get involved. :)

Looking forward to finding GRL in Vancouver, Canada.

I can’t seem to find any contact info for the group in Vancouver, but I’d like to get a hold of someone to become officially involved.

    Hi there,
I have been doing some lasertag stuff in Vancouver but we are still trying to
figure out a power source. We are also putting together a google map of good
walls and locations. I am interested in getting up more and bigger and with more
    people.
