Maker Faire 12

Exactly one month ago, Agent Scott setup a GRL Canada booth at the Vancouver Mini Maker Faire, showing our Orignal GCode project, and our current progress in taking drawings, tags, and any live webcam feed and turning it into straight GCode.

The project, as it currently stands, allows us to capture webcam data and export it to a <!– 2D –> GCode file for use with a laser cutter or CNC mill.

Since we didn’t have access to a portable laser cutter at the event, we were graciously allowed to borrow a Mendel Max 3D Printer from our friends at the Vancouver Hack Space, and started the work involved in expanding the software to allow for flood-fill algorithms, shape scaling, and extrusion that will be needed as we push the exported data to a 3D (or 2.5D, let’s be honest here) GCode file.
