Vancouver Mini Maker Faire
June 21st, 2012 . by Agent ScottGRL Canada will be representing this weekend, Sep 23rd & 24th at the Vancouver Mini Maker Faire, at the PNE Forum.
We will be showing a slightly updated version of Original GCode, a project originally conceived and implemented by Agent Scott alongside Graffiti Research Lab Germany ,which has been built with the help of TMR and Vancouver Hack Space.
The project consists of a simple lightbox with an embedded webcam, and allows writers to tag the top face of the box with dry erase marker. The image is run through custom blob detection software, built in Processing, that traces the edges of the image and exports the XY coordinates of each pixel to a gcode file, which can then be used to CNC the resulting shape on a laser cutter or a 3D printer.
